APA Mission Statement:

The Asphalt Pavement Alliance’s mission is to further the use and quality of Hot Mix Asphalt pavements. The Alliance will accomplish this through research, technology transfer, engineering, education and innovation.

The Asphalt Pavement Alliance is a coalition of the Asphalt Institute, the National Asphalt Pavement Association, and the State Asphalt Pavement Associations.

The APA is a coalition of:
A US-based association of international petroleum asphalt producers, manufacturers and affiliated businesses, the Asphalt Institute (AI) promotes the use, benefits and quality performance of petroleum asphalt, through environmental, marketing, research, engineering and technical development, and through the resolution of issues affecting the industry.

Founded in 1919, the Institute's members represent 90% of the liquid asphalt produced in the United States. Asphalt Institute publications and technical seminars educate users and specifiers on proper practices for the design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of all types of asphalt pavements. A network of Field Engineers, located throughout the United States and Canada, provides technical support to member companies, users and specifying agencies.

The National Asphalt Pavement Association is the only association that exclusively represents the interests of the Hot Mix Asphalt producer/contractor on the national level with Congress, government agencies, and other national trade and business organizations.

NAPA supports an active research program designed to improve the quality of HMA pavements and paving techniques used in the construction of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, airports, and environmental and recreational facilities. The Association conducts training courses and provides technical, educational, and marketing materials and information to its Members. NAPA also supplies product information to users and specifiers of paving materials. The Association, which was founded in 1955, counts more than 1000 companies as its Members.

The State Asphalt Pavement Associations represent the Hot Mix Asphalt pavement industry in 36 states with programs of technology transfer, education, and training.
